Welcome To Veterinary 'student' Life
Intro This site is partly a personal blog about life as a vet student, but also a relay in veterinary news topics that are 1- close to heart, 2- relevant to public interest topics. About me I am Adam Sheridan, I'm a second year vet student In London, I have been working in My Vet 24-7 Uxbridge since 2008, and working with animals far longer. In various jobs, and through academia. Before attending the Royal Veterinary College I study for a Level 3 Betec Animal Managment Diploma at BCA College in Royal Berkshire. Because of the route I decided to take with the Diploma, I first had to complete a pre veterinary year at RVC, so I am doing a six year course to becoming a vet. So now I am in my third year at RVC. It's a long stressful journey with a fantastic reward to end. I am very outspoken about welfare and very passionate about if you do things right then you will less likely end up with a sick pet. My pet peves are poor nutrition, (just because is in shiny packet with a cute animal on front does not mean its good) and poor husbandry. * I would like to point out I'm only a student as such it's not legal for me to make any diagnosis of any kind without a fully qualified vet present, it would also be very negligible of me to do so over the internet. If anyone ever offers medical advice of any kind over the internet, it is negligent and possibly dangerous Getting into Vet Schoolinterested in being a vet? Read more

Previously animals have had to be vaccinated against rabies, after waiting about a six month period a blood sertology test was run on the animal to prove it have over 0.5ml/m of Rabies antibody in the circulation, if not a re vaccination would have to be done. - however now animals will not need this blood test instead the vaccination will do, followed by 21 days for blood antibody levels to rise before flight. see you vet for more info or Defra website. My Vet 24-7 (Special Offer on Passports) *****£60***** - We know so many of you would take your pets on holiday if you could but 6 months wait and £160 was a bit a much for some people. With the new changes we are offering the new passport for only £60 inc consultation fee, and its only a 21 day wait after vaccination before you can travel within the EU. |
